Soprano Caitlin Mead is a native of Madison, WI and made her debut as Third Spirit in the Madison Opera's production of The Magic Flute at age 15. Most recently, Ms. Mead performed in the world premiere of sci-fi opera, Ganymede 5, by Evan Kassof at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Other recent performances include Lisa in La Sonnambula, Giannetta in L’Elisir d’Amore, the iSING International Festival, singing contemporary Chinese language concert repertoire in the Jiangsu province of China, Center for Contemporary Opera's world premiere performances of Hester By Richard Alan White and Jane Eyre by Louis Karchin, the recording of which was recently released under the Naxos label.
Equally comfortable performing improvisatory and experimental works, Ms. Mead appeared this season at the Madison New Music Festival joining pianist Robert Fleitz in performing Amanda Schoofs’ graphic score, “You Burn Us,” which was described as “spectacular- wildly dynamic and experimental.” Ms. Mead also performs as part of artist John Hitchcock’s award winning Bury the Hatchet exhibit, which is currently on display at the Chazen Art Museum, and will travel to the SRISA in Florence, Italy and the Portland Art Museum in the 2020 season. In 2015, Ms. Mead won the Alsop Entrepreneurship Award for her combination art gallery and recital entitled "Utopian Dream," which centered around Luciano Berio's Folk songs. She is a graduate of Mannes School of Music- The New School (MM), Northwestern University (BM).
